"Hiring and Firing" Employment Seminar Cancelled

It has been necessary to cancel our Employment team seminar of 22 April 2010 due to the recent flight cancellations into the UK. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will contact you with details of arrangements for our next client seminar.

 

Some businesses are lifting their freezes on recruitment, but others are still having to consider cost cutting measures. This roundtable discussion will provide a valuable opportunity for attendees to share through discussion their experience and practice in dealing with day to day "hiring and firing" issues.

In this workshop, by way of case studies, we will brief you on "need-to-know" legal developments and best practice in these areas, including the following:

  • Vetting and pre-employment checks such as medical questionnaires
  • Hiring restrictions: non-compete covenants
  • Regulatory restrictions: immigration requirements and FSA references
  • Dealing with vexatious job applicants
  • Changes to how compromise agreements can be used
  • Calculating payments due on termination including taking into account sickness and carried over holiday and
  • The implications of the Equality Bill on hiring and firing.
